%0 Journal Article %T Plantas medicinales, con ¨¦nfasis en especies acu¨¢ticas, y su amenaza de extinci¨®n en el sur de Jordania %A Al-Qura£¿n %A Saleh %J Bioagro %D 2011 %I Decanato de Agronom¨ªa de la Universidad Centroccidental %X an evaluation of medicinal plants with emphasis on aquatic species, in different states and regions in southern jordan, was undertaken to determine their threat status in terms of known standards for the conservation and management of plant species. a total of 87 taxa of medicinal plants were found, most of them aquatic and/or wild species, including 15 endemic species. a total of 57 taxa were no threatened, but 30 taxa belonging to 27 genera and 21 families have been assigned red list status of threatened category, with 36.7 % of them in critical threat, 13.3 % in emerging threat, and 50.0 % considered vulnerable. the results of this rapid threat assessment suggest the need of certain actions at the state level due to lack of field level population data. %K species conservation %K ethnobotany %K aquatic plants %K endangered plants. %U http://www.scielo.org.ve/scielo.php?script=sci_abstract&pid=S1316-33612011000300010&lng=en&nrm=iso&tlng=en
