%X the objective of this investigation is to verify the current usage of entries under the letter £¿a£¿ of the diccionario de venezolanismos (1983) (£¿dictionary of venezuelanisms£¿). for this purpose, i examined how the words selected for this study were used in a sample consisting of 1203 texts. in the cases where a word could not be found in the sample, i conducted a survey to determine whether it was recognized by caracas speakers (and in case it was recognized, whether the word was assigned the same meanings recorded in the dictionary). in addition, i also verified whether or not the words that are object of this investigation appear in the diccionario de la real academia espa£¿ola (2007) (£¿dictionary of the royal spanish academy£¿), with the same meanings that the diccionario de venezolanismos (1983) registers.
