%0 Journal Article %T Las equivalencias en espa£¿ol del infinitivo flexionado portugu¨¦s: Una perspectiva contrastiva %A Carrera de la Red %A Micaela %A Rodrigues %A Jos¨¦ Maria %J Boletin de Linguistica %D 2006 %I Scientific Electronic Library Online %X this paper intends to examine the similarities and differences between the portuguese inflected infinitive and the spanish infinitive. a contrastive perspective is adopted, analyzing written language data taken from saramago¡äs memorial do convento, and its translation into spanish. although the infinitive seems to be the most valid translation, in many cases, a total equivalence between the spanish infinitive and the portuguese inflexional infinitive cannot be obtained, since it is difficult to transfer syntactic and semantic meaning, such as the maximum potentiality towards the past and the future, or the indetermination of -em in the plural third person morpheme, or to transfer pragmatic meaning, such as the use of inflected infinitives as discourse markers or clause connectors. %K inflected infinitive %K equivalent constructions %K pragmatic functions. %U http://www.scielo.org.ve/scielo.php?script=sci_abstract&pid=S0798-97092006000200003&lng=en&nrm=iso&tlng=en
