Florencia %J Bolet¨ªn del Museo Chileno de Arte Precolombino %D 2010 %I Scientific Electronic Library Online %R 10.4067/S0718-68942010000100006 %X in this paper, we present the initial results of field studies conducted to identify evidence of mining and metallurgical activities in three areas of the puna of jujuy: 1) fundiciones and santo domingo, 2) the southern basin of pozuelos and 3) the valley of coyahuayma and the upper rosario river. these three areas all have deposits of ores that were used by the pre-hispanic societies of northwester argentina and were of great importance during colonial times. from recorded evidence assigned to pre-hispanic and colonial times, we can infer the role played by mining and metallurgical practices in the societies of the puna of jujuy in both periods and in different sectors. %K mining %K metallurgy %K puna of jujuy %K pre-hispanic times %K colonial times. %U http://www.scielo.cl/scielo.php?script=sci_abstract&pid=S0718-68942010000100006&lng=en&nrm=iso&tlng=en
