%X rub¨¦n dar¨ªo¡äs book of poetry cantos de vida y esperanza (1905) is an opportunity to revisit the idea of modernity and the importance of dar¨ªo as a key poet who paved the way for hispanic literary modernity as defined by the mexican critic and poet octavio paz. this article shows how dar¨ªo established a literary dialogue with the classics through the greek and roman world and also through the spanish writers of the golden age.
