%X in this paper i try to analyze the difficult and complex problem of sharing out the non entailed heritage belonging to pedro fern¨¢ndez de velasco, "mayordomo mayor" of the two first kings of the trast¨¢mara family, who had managed to build a substantial wealth out of the sheep business ("merindades") in the province of burgos. the disputes among his heirs were solved only after long quarrels in 1399.
