Development and Quantification of Fungal Biofilm in Acrylic Resins of Dental Prostheses Pretreated with Rosmarinnus officinalis

Maria Elvira S. Cruzeiro, Rogério Freitag, Daiane E. Blank, Luciana Pinto, Mário Carlos A. Meireles, Marlete Brum Cleff
Candida albicans is the main agent of oral candidiasis being classified as an opportunistic non-contagious yeast, also the main species involved in the development of this disease. Dentures are commonly biofilm deposits, especially the fungal biofilm that became the target of several studies, being the treatment of stomatitis with classic antifungal agents well established. However, resistance by individuals has been described. The objective of this study was to quantify the biofilm forma...

Low Temperature Hydrothermal Synthesis of Biochar from Green Algae and Its Combustion Performance

Ning Xue
The low temperature hydrothermal carbonization reaction of green algae was studied by combining with the low temperature hydrothermal carbonization technology. The hydrothermal carbon was prepared in the temperature range of 180?C - 240?C. The experimental results had been characterized in detail by oxygen bomb calorimeter, synchronous thermal analyzer and infrared spectrum analysis. The effects of reaction time, reaction temperature and salt concentration on hydrothermal carbonization and combu...

Bioremediation of Oil Contaminated Soil by Biostimulation Method Using NPK Fertilizer

Bieby Voijant Tangahu, Lukman Vyatrawan, Rima Nurmalasari, Februriyana Pirade
Petroleum contamination in the soil is known to reach the location of groundwater resources thereby potentially contaminating groundwater that is used as the primary source of clean water. Hydrocarbon compounds contained in the petroleum are also compounds that are most difficult to breakdown. One way of overcoming this problem is by bioremediation, which is a recovery of environmental condition by utilizing biological

Endostatin-Encapsulated N-Succinyl-Chitosan Nanoparticles Inhabited the Growth of MCF-7 Cell

Yanrong Fan, Ye Li, Xuefei Xia
A simple method was developed to synthesize the N-succinyl-chitosan (NSC) successfully. NSC was characterized by FTIR, 1H NMR and element analysis. The NSC can form nanoparticles with TPP through electrostatic interaction. The morphology, particle size and zeta potential of the nanoparticle were investigated and showed a 100 - 200 nm in diameter with a positive potential 9.99 mv. The encapsulation efficiency of NSC-ES-NPs was 94.76 ± 0.05. The in vitro cell culture indicates th...

Study of Process Affected by Electrolyte Concentration through Microarc Oxidation on the TC4 Alloy Surface

Fengbiao Wang, Yongqing Wang, Bo Hou, Jiakun Wu, Yapeng Li
This paper aims to achieve the prepared functional coatings containing a specific ratio of calcium and phosphorus, and guide the rational allocation of chemical reagents. On the medicinal titanium alloy surface the calcium biocoating and phosphorus biocoating were fabricated by micro arc oxidation (MAO) process. The coating morphology and elemental composition were observed by scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and energy dispersive spectrometer (EDS). Wear resistant test on the coating surface ...
