omental infarction is a rare, little known process that can simulate other causes of abdominal pain and does not usually constitute a presumptive diagnosis. the greater omentum or epiplo？n, is a peritoneal fold made up of four layers. its function is to restrict the spread of infectious or inflammatory processes. it originates in the greater curvature of the stomach and hangs in front of the transverse colon and small intestines. we report a case of a 29 year old man who complained of abdominal pain in the left iliac fossa.
