Estrategia educativa sobre atención inmediata al recién nacido en estudiantes de sexto a?o de MedicinaKeywords: neonatal mortality, knowledges, medicine students. Abstract: introduction: neonatal mortality is the likelihood that a newborn has to dye from birth to 28 days of life. consequently, to reduce the neonatal deaths became in one of the major components of new models and strategies to decrease the infant mortality and to achieve the millennium development objective. objective: to design and to assess a preventive strategy on the base of knowledge of newborn immediate cares in the sixth years students of medicine career to decrease the morbidity and mortality in above mentioned population. method: an educational intervention study was conducted in sixth year students of medicine career of ?13 de3 marzo? polyclinic of the medical sciences subsidiary of bayamo, gramma province from september, 2008 to may, 2009. results: despite the rotation by the subject of neonatology, there were some significant gaps of knowledge from the theoretical and practical point of view in this population. after intervention results became satisfactory, achieving to rise the level of knowledge on this subject and to give recommendations to spread the information to rest of students of other years of the medicine career and related disciplines. conclusions: with the intervention carried out it was possible to raise the level of knowledge on this subject and to give recommendations to extend the information to above mentioned students.
