this paper presents the application of vmi (vendor managed inventory) in a colombian enterprise that distributes food products. here it is shown a clear definition of vmi and it is analyzed the key elements and the most important vmi models that can be found in related research literature. also presents a comparative assessment of two methods proposed in the literature for calculating the replenishment quantities in a vmi context, which are compared with the current procedure implemented for such propose in the company.
