La revolución bolivariana en riesgo, la democratización social en cuestión: La violencia social y la criminalidad en Venezuela entre 1998-2008

this article argues that, while there has been an important process of political, economic and social transformation in the country during the last decade, criminality and violence have registered ever-increasing rates which could endanger the overall process of social democratization currently in course. the author argues that, more than in the case of any other area of public policy, solving the problem of insecurity calls for an active involvement of the community itself. it also requires the development of a new judicial framework capable of ensuring effective equality between the citizens of the country.
