present cultural manifestations of mapuche people correspond to asymmetric cross-cultural practices with western chilean society. within this context, mapuche cultural manifestations aim at establishing an art with a distinct identity by implementing diverse strategies that emphasize the ancient mapuche tradition. this situation is clearly reflected in üi, a poetic literary work published by adriana paredes pinda (lom, 2005). her poetic discourse displays ancestral languages andpractices associated with the ritual and sacred tradition, thus reproducing the conditions of a "discourse ofpower".
