Caracterización de los estudiantes con discapacidad: Caso: Universidad Central de VenezuelaKeywords: higher education, student disabilities, student integration, venezuelan education. Abstract: abstract this study attempts to describe the characteristics of students with disabilities at the universidad central de venezuela in five contexts: namely, personal-family, educational, sports and cultural activities, social and socio-economic status. it is a descriptive and field study, as well as being transversal. the sample was intentional and was made up of 67 participants with some of the following disabilties: sight or hearing impairment, motor skills and autism. the instrument used was a questionnaire compiled by the author and the means of data collection was through interviews. the results obtained allow us to describe, for the first time, the characteristics of such physically-challenged students in each of the five areas under study. it is hoped that the study may be extended to other institutions in the country, thus allowing planning and concrete action to be taken towards effective policies and actions to ensure integration in the higher education system
