Fracturas coronales de la tróclea y el cóndilo humeral de tipo 3 de Dubberley

Abstract:

background: capitellar and trochlear fractures are uncommon. dubberley described a classification for these fractures and type 3 is a coronal fracture of the capitellum and trochlea with separated fragments. the goal of this paper is to retrospectively evaluate the results of patients treated with open reduction and internal fixation in type 3 dubberley fractures. methods: nine patients were treated; average age: 56; average follow-up: 29 months. all patients were evaluated with the dash score, sf-36 and mayo elbow performance index. results: in 8 of 9 patients the fracture healed. the average flexion and extension was 128-28° and the average prono-supination was 84-81°. the average arc of motion was 100°. the grip was 85% of the contralateral side. the dash score was 9 and the sf- 36 was 77. according to the mayo elbow performance index, 5 outcomes were excellent, 3 good and one was fair. four patients required reoperations. conclusions: type 3 dubberley capitellar and trochlear fractures are uncommon. although open reduction and internal fixation may offer good results, some complications are to be expected and patients should be informed of them.
