RESISTENCIA DE CINCO VARIEDADES DE (SOLANUM SPP., SOLANACEAE) AL ATAQUE DE TECIA SOLANIVORA (LEPIDOPTERA: GELECHIIDAE)Keywords: antibiosis, antixenosis, demographic parameters, resistance to insects. Abstract: with the objective of finding resistance sources to the attack by the potato moth tecia solanivora, five potato varieties, tuquerre?a, capiro, criolla amarilla, tornilla, and mambera, were evaluated. the pest's demographic parameters were estimated, finding that its life cycle was extended to 75 days in the tuquerre?a variety, which was 9 more days than in the susceptible criolla amarilla and capiro varieties. the percentage of pupation and adult emergence in the mambera and tuquerre?a varieties were statistically lower than in the other varieties. larval and pupal mortalities obtained in the tuquerre?a, mambera, and tornilla varieties were above all other varieties. antixenosis properties were observed in the tuquerre?a variety (129 eggs/female) when oviposition rate was evaluated. the antibiotic and nonpreference effect on the pest's biology, found in the tuquerre?a, mambera, and tornilla varieties, makes these genotypes a resistance source that could be incorporated in potato breeding programs to the attack by t. solanivora.
