Lo filosófico y lo religioso en Julián MaríasDOI: 10.2478/v10225-012-0003-8 Keywords: Julián Marías, Christian philosophy, Catholicism, a human life, the Absolute Abstract: One of the main characteristics of Julián Marías's thought is its Christian, connected with the Catholicism, character. But one can't understand the Catholicism of Marías like a religious credo, because in his considerations it functions like "a reviving root". According to him the understanding of a human being and a person is possible only by a perception of the Absolute as a foundation of our own life. Thus reaching God guarantees making sense of our personal existence. And since a life of an individual, a life of each single man constitutes its initial and forthright reality - here Marías interacts with his adept Ortega y Gasset - philosophizing that separates the problem of the Absolute becomes very problematic. God arises from each human existence in so vital way that our efforts to discover in ourselves the human beings may succeed only providing that we fully accept the Absolute.
