Scientific activity of academician Sergei Vernov in Apatity (Kola Peninsula) and Leningrad during the years 1968–1982

This paper is dedicated to the 100th birthday anniversary of academician S. N. Vernov. Academician Sergei Vernov (1910–1982), an outstanding Russian space physicist, was the first national scientist who initiated the cosmic ray programme and radiation studies onboard the first Soviet artificial satellites. He initiated the holding of All-Union conferences, seminars and winter schools on space physics and was the chairman of these events.
