Abstract:

The determination of harmful elements including lead, cadmium and arsenic in the coating of zinc-coated steel sheets by inductively coupled plasma atomic emission spectrometry(ICP-AES) after stripping with hexamine(Urotropine) hydrochloric acid solution was proposed. The stripping effect of various removing solutions(including hexamine, formaldehyde, antimony chloride and thiourea) on the coating of steel was compared. In this study, the hexamine with rapid stripping speed and without pollution was selected to prepare removing solution. After stripping, the lead, cadmium and arsenic in solution was determined by ICP-AES.The influence of zinc coating and matrix iron could be eliminated by standard addition method. The proposed method was applied to the analysis of zinc-coated steel sheets sample. The relative standard deviation(RSD) of determination results for lead, cadmium and arsenic was 1.4%,2.9% and 5.3%,respectively.The recoveries were in the range of 92%-104%.
