Abstract:

A novel organic dianion, N, N'-Disulfo-1,4-benzoquinonediimine ( 1) has been prepared, which is a strong electron acceptor. The reduction potential of the PPh 4 salt indicates that 1 is a stronger acceptor than DDQ (2,3-dichloro-5,6-dicyano-1,4-benzoquinone). The dianionic acceptor provided a BEDT-TTF salt, (BEDT-TTF) 4 1·3H 2O, the structures and physical properties of which are reported.
