Twenty years ago, research on environmental science was extended beyond its initial scope including pollution source surveys, environmental pollution monitoring, and treatment of the ”three wastes” (waste water, waste gas, and solid waste) to a full concern with the behavior, tendencies and harmful effects of pollutants in the environment as well as the overall understanding of the ecosystem.
