A relay selection algorithm based on channel information and residual energy in fountain relay transmission networks

Abstract:
A new relay selection algorithm employing digital fountain codes that considers both channel state information and current residual energy is proposed in this paper. A set of relays is firstly selected according to the channel information of the links from source to relays and from relays to destination, and then the required relays are chosen from the set based on the order of residual energy. Through theoretical analysis and simulation of the transmission time and energy consumption, as well as simulation of the impact of thresholds and relay numbers on system performance, the results show that the algorithm can significantly improve the network lifetime compared to the relay selection algorithm only considering channel state information.
