Influence of Elastane Consumption on Plated Plain Knitted Fabric Characteristics

The requirements in terms of wearing comfort withsportswear underwear and outerwear are widelylinked to the use of elastane fibers. Today,elastomeric plated jersey fabric is one of the mostcommon fabrics produced with large-diametercircular knitting machine (LCKM). However, therelation between elastane proportion and fabriccharacteristics has not been enough studied inliterature and knitters generally use experienceduring machines adjustments in to order reachneeded fabric characteristics. The aim of this paperwas to investigate the relation between Lycra consumption and fabric dimensional and elasticbehavior. The obtained results showed that Lycra proportion inside fabric has an incidence on fabricwidth, weight and elasticity. The origin of thisbehaviour has been discussed.
