La traducció del castellà al català: una tradició aleatòria = Translation from Castilian into Catalan: a random tradition

La història de la traducció entre aquestes dues llengües tan properes marxa paral·lela a les vicissituds històriques que han viscut. No és una relació contínua ni gaire fluida; el castellà, per raons diverses, no sempre ha exercit el paper de llengua pont que li correspondria per a la divulgació de la literatura catalana. En aquest text mirarem de resseguir-ne, a grans trets, els períodes, els autors, els títols i els traductors més rellevants: des de l'Edat Mitjana, amb el cas paradigmàtic d'Ausiàs Marc, fins a l'esplet del segle XX, amb les diverses modes o tendències que hi han imperat. The history of translation between these two closely related languages runs parallel to the twists and turns in their history. It has not been a continuous or particularly fluid relationship; for a variety of reasons, Castilian has not always exercised its potential role as a “bridging” language in the dissemination of Catalan literature. In the present article, we shall attempt to give an overview of the most important periods, authors, titles and translators, from the Middle Ages, with its paradigmatic case of Ausiàs Marc, to the bumper harvest of the 20th century, with its various prevailing fashions and trends.
