Con el alma herida : el debate de los bienes bibliográficos en México

Objetivo. Analizar la situación actual que caracteriza al patrimonio bibliográfico de México, para determinar las posibles vías de actuación que permitan garantizar la permanencia de los objetos custodiados en todas las instituciones, sean públicas o privadas. -- Metodología. Análisis histórico de las instituciones de custodia, en especial de la Biblioteca Nacional de México y su relación jurídica con las otras instituciones del patrimonio cultural mexicano. Relación que se realiza a través de la revisión de los textos jurídicos para determinar semejanzas y diferencias en el reconocimiento del patrimonio bibliográfico y de su valoración. -- Resultados. El aislamiento que se ha producido de la Biblioteca Nacional de México en el marco de esfera cultural y de la legislación correspondiente, no le permite apuntalar proyectos de interés general con finalidades a largo plazo y de naturaleza patrimonial. Con esta condición se impide para dicha institución que consiga constituirse en cabeza rectora de políticas culturales que protejan adecuadamente el legado bibliográfico del país.Objective. To analyze the current state of the bibliographic heritage of Mexico in order to identify possible courses of action that might ensure the permanence of objects housed in public and private institutions. -- Methodology. Historical analysis of custodial institutions, in particular that of the National Library of Mexico and of its legal relationship with the other institutions of Mexican cultural heritage. An understanding of this relationship is obtained by reviewing legal documents so as to identify similarities and differences in the recognition afforded the bibliographic heritage and the way in which it is appraised. -- Results. The isolation suffered by the National Library of Mexico within the framework of the wider cultural sphere and the prevailing legislation does not allow it to support heritage projects of general interest and with long-term goals. This is preventing the Library from establishing itself as a leader of cultural policies that might provide adequate protection to the country s bibliographic heritage.
