THE VALUE OF LIPOSTRUCTURE IN RECONSTRUCTION OF THE MAXILLO-FACIAL SOFT TISSUE DEFFECTSKeywords: LIPOSTRUCTURE , FAT GRAFT , FACIAL DEFORMITIES Abstract: BACKGROUND: Indifferent to the origin (congenital or acquired) the facial deformities are difficult to be accepted by the patients. The ideal technique is a simple procedure, with minimal trauma for the patient and with predictable results. The lipostructure can be considered one of these types of reconstruction method and we present our experience with. METHODS: We had used lipostructure at 8 patients for the plasty of postoperative defects (5 after resection of parotidian or cutaneous malignant tumors and 3 for parotidian benign tumors) or for correction of facial asymmetry in 2 patients with Parry-Romberg syndrome. The fat was harvest from periumbilical region or from tight areas and centrifuged. The resulted fat was injected in interested region in tridimensional fashion in a variable volume, 10-45 mL/surgical procedure. The technique was repeated at minimum 6 month (4 times in 2 cases and 2 times in 2 cases) if necessary. RESULTS: The postoperative result was very good. It was a substantial improving in aesthetics but also in quality of the soft tissues. The aspect is important because in most of the patients, at the deformities areas were scares or/and irradiated tissues.CONCLUSIONS: The lipostructure is a reliable method that permits good aesthetic results with a minimal trauma and discomfort for the patient.
