Development of New Combinational Window Family with its Application in the Design of Cosine Modulated Filer Bank with Better PerformanceKeywords: QMF , Filter Bank , Variable Window , Side- Lobe Fall-Off Rate (SLFOR) , Far-End Attenuation , Stop-band Energy Abstract: This paper presents the design of near perfect reconstruction (NPR) cosine modulated filter bank (CMFB). The prototype filter is designed by the combinational window functions. Three other variable windows, viz., Kaiser window, Papoulis-cos4 (πt) window, (Parzen-cos6 (πt) window are also used to design prototype filters. These window functions provide high side-lobe-fall-off-rate (SLFOR) with better far-end attenuation which suppresses the undesired interferences occur in the filter bank. The Gradient based iterative optimization algorithm is used to minimize the error parameters. Design examples have been included to illustrate the effectiveness of the proposed technique over the earlier reported work.
