Knowledge and attitudes of the professionals of urgency on gender violence

The services of urgency attending a serious social andhealth problem: attention to women victims of abuse.Objective. Analyze the degree of knowledge andattitudes of emergency professionals to the abuse.Method. Descriptive study, using anonymousquestionnaires, self-administered home-made hospitalemergency professionals of Ourense.Results. On the question of knowledge, achieved anaverage response. A 92.8% demand information and a94.1% interest will be formed. 76,3% do not know theprotocols.Conclusions. The professionals usually consider theirknowledge of gender violence are poor and scarce. Nursesand orderlies were considered insufficiently sensitive.Regarding the use of protocols most believe does not exist.In view of the results indicated the need to enhance andencourage staff training and use of protocols withguidelines for action from health services.
