La incorporación de nuevos materiales vivos y de herbario al estudio de Hieronymiella, permitió concluir que no se justifica mantener H. vittata como especie diferente de H. speciosa. De esta manera el número de especies aceptadas para el género se reduce de cinco a cuatro. The study of additional live and herbarium material of Hieronymiella leads to the conclusion that H. vittatta cannot be upheld as separate species from H. speciosa. The number of species accepted in the genus is thus reduced from five to four.
