The social status of the township of Kur unlu in the mid - nineteenth centuryKeywords: Kur unlu , Temettuat application , Temettuat in Ottomans Abstract: Tanzimat Era is the beginning of a change and transformation in Ottoman State. Ottoman State, with Tanzimat Edict, declared that it amended some changes politically, socio-economically and socio-culturally. Financing of reformation and other necessary expenditures that would be done by Ottoman State dignitaries were thought to be met by the Temettuat Tahrir (census) taxes that would be put into practice at the end of Temettuat Tahrir studies. Temettuat Tahrir studies were prepared on the basis of household intended for detection and follow-up of military and tax potential. Although nevertheless economic data was given in the Temettuat Tahrir, we are able to reach important data that will enlighten social histories of several nations lived in the Ottoman geography. One of the Temettuat notebooks that prepared in the nineteenth century is Kur unlu Temettuat notebook that was prepared in 1845. This notebook includes only the temmettuats of 18 villages but not the center of Kur unlu. Under the name of the residential area, by giving the numbers to all of the houses, all details were given such as the names, fame, titles, nicknames, occupations, official duties and ethnicity of the household heads.
