Slovakia’s Road to Multilingualism

The article pays attention to the necessity of foreign languages in an economic practice. It also describes the situation in teaching foreign languages throughout all the levels of education – starting from nursery schools up to universities in Slovakia, and in particular in the region of Poprad and its surroundings. We analyse the situation on a labour market considering all the requirements connected with a foreign language training of future experts. To analyse the situation we used questionnaires in which our respondents (pupils, students, teachers and parents) answered our questions. The obtained answers were summarized in charts and on the basis of the results we set targets for foreign languages training in the future.
