China’s Media Regulations and Its Political Right to Enforce: Conflict with Foreign CorrespondentsKeywords: China , Media , Regulation , Foreign correspondent , U.S. ambassador , Crackdown , Propaganda Abstract: This study examines China’s media regulation policy on foreign correspondents who demand their rights to freedom of the press in China. Their claims seem to despise the country’s laws and regulations, in which China also has its right to enforce them. This paper determines whether the U.S. norm of freedom of the press has to be treated as superior to China’s own media policy, in addition to examining how China’s own political factors and cultural values affect the enforcement of media policy on foreign correspondents.
