La traducció a l’anglès de la legislació civil catalana [Translation of Catalan Civil Law into English]

In this paper the problems posed by the process of translating Catalan civil law statutes into English are presented, as well as a number of suggestions to solve them. My contribution intends to be the beginning of a style guide for translators that makes their job easier and improves the quality of the final text. Such improvements are specifically applied to the task carried out by the European Observatory of Comparative Civil Law of the Universitat de Girona, through the Projecte Norma Civil. These improvements have been designed to make the process more effective and to offer quality products that may promote a professional image of the Catalan parliamentary system through translation.
