The Movies of Jean-Luc Godard and His Aesthetic Manifesto

The Movement of ‘New Wave/ Nouvelle Vague’ is one of the most significant trends in the History of Cinema. In fact, the aesthetic notion that has ever been forming with the New Wave Movement has added new dimensions to the cinema movies search for manners of language and expression peculiar to itself. In this respect, it is important to research and discuss what the contribution of the Movement of New Wave to the development of the Language of Cinema is from the point of perceiving the state of today’s pictures as well as what the potential progressions in future will be, in which context this very study expatiates upon the Movement of New Wave and, particularly, the movies of Jean-Luc Godard, who is actually the most notable representative thereof, whereby questioning them from the aspect of film aesthetics. This study also pays particular attention to the exclusive place of Godard within the group and - in consideration of an exemplary selection of his typical films - the characteristic features of his understanding of films have been elucidated.
