Rethinking Europe: “The collective” as complex tensions between mobile relations

This article attempts to examine the subject of Europe through the tensions that mobility generates in its inhabitants; it does so by looking at three areas, in which the tension that arises as a result of mobility as an abstract norm becomes mobility personified with effects on periodic journeys and bodies such as “the body (as) illegal”, the insecurity of artistic processes and the breaking of the canon. By showing the effects of some of the tensions that are generated by mobility, the author aligns herself with a form of knowledge production that has the aim of making itself responsible for making visible these effects, with the aim of building more responsible kinds of knowledge so as to help create a more liveable world for the collective.
