A STUDY ON HOMESICKNESS EXPERIENCED BY CORPORATE PROFESSIONALS DURING THEIR SHORT TERM VISIT TO BUSINESS DESTINATIONS

Homesickness has been a very recurring emotional disturbance on travelling corporate executives who make trips from 5-45 days at a stretch to make certain business decisions work. Executive life does involve going to places without Families but if is for extended time one misses a lot of regular happenings of normal life and reacts in a disturbed emotional way. We decided that such reactions though prevailing for a long time has not been studied for current business environment of India .We took random sample of 30 Company Executives out of 40 numbers which we interviewed for the study. These cases selected originate from Mumbai, Vapi, Vadodara and Ahmedabad.We found from the study that there is definite difference in the factors which exists in normal times and when in Business trip of longer duration and arising Homesickness. Factors studied being missing physical home, Missing Family, Anxious about Business Performance, Physical Looks, felt angry being away, felt Lonely being without any company
