Mechanisms for testing and evaluation of students in the virtual environment LMS MOODLE 1.9.X and 2.X +

Abstract:

E-learning environment activities are carried out in several ways. One of the possibilities is the electronic testing of students, while the evaluation and the testing itself is usually connected to and delivered with the educational content of the course, or they can be administrated by an individual process. In both cases, the evaluation and testing are important parts of educational system and saving, selection and delivery are usually administrated by an independent part of the system called the evaluation mechanism. It usually contains functions of creation of evaluation items or creation of sets of items out of which individual items are selected. The selection process can run as a random selection of questions based on specific criteria, or as an adaptive selection of questions based on previous answers. Types of questions supported by the evaluation mechanisms vary, although multiple choice questions with one correct answer usually prevail. The paper focuses on possibilities of mechanisms for testing and evaluating of students in both the most widely spread version LMS Moodle 1.9.X, and the new version LMS Moodle 2.X+ from the point of view of its internal architecture.
