MOTIVATION OF STUDENTS TO LEARN TEACHING SUBJECT BIOLOGY AT GRAMMAR SCHOOLKeywords: Student`s learning motivation , Grammar school , ROSE research , Student's interests of science education , The popularity of biology's topics between students Abstract: This report is focused on research of students’ motivation in learning biology in grammar school by using ROSE questionnaire. Simultaneously, it surveys their interest in other natural scientific subjects. One of the observed aims was to set the popularity of individual thematic spheres and concrete topics in biology, too. The research was made with regard to evaluation differences between sexes. In this research, 297 students (190 girls and 107 boys), who attend the 3rd year of grammar school, took part. Gained results showed that biology is the most popular among all measured natural scientific subjects and the most preferred topics includes biology of human. Less popular are topics from genetics and zoology. Within biology, as a teaching subject, are the least attractive topics related to botany. Respondents of both sexes showed very low interest in chemistry.
