Les échelles de l’expérience Interaction as meshed processes. From an improvised music show

La relation entre interaction et structure est rarement considérée sous son angle temporel. Pourtant, cet angle offre une voie heuristique pour travailler à l’articulation des échelles de l’observation. L’article propose un cadre d’analyse centré sur un modèle d’engrènement de processus et posant l’action comme un motif en quête de sanction . Les enjeux interactionnels , immédiats, et les enjeux structuraux , de longue portée, sont engrenés en ce que la satisfaction des seconds est à la fois conditionnée par, et régulatrice de celle des premiers. Plusieurs implications, qui sont autant de pense-bête théoriques susceptibles d’appuyer des enquêtes, sont déclinées à travers leur illustration par un cas empirique, un concert de musiques improvisées. La description du format interactionnel, comme passage obligé et dispositif d’épreuve pour des motivations de plus longue portée, ouvre ainsi sur l’articulation d’une pluralité d’enjeux portés en situation par les différents participants comme par chaque participant, l’analyse devant établir les horizons temporels respectifs de leurs inscriptions sociales. Temporality is rarely used as a point of view to consider the relationship between interaction and structure. However, it is a heuristic way to combine different scales of observation. This paper offers a framework of analysis, centered on a model of meshed processes. It considers action as a motive in search of a sanction . The immediate interactional stakes, as well as the long-run, structural stakes, are meshed together : satisfying the latter is both a condition and a regulation of the satisfaction of the former. Several implications, that are as many theoretical reminders that can prove useful to build a research, are applied to an empirical case : a free jazz show. Describing the interactional form, as a prerequisite and as a test mechanism, allows us to combine the plurality of stakes that people carry along with them. This analysis aims to establish, for each of them, the temporal horizons of their social scopes.
