La motivación y el rendimiento ocupacional en ni os con trastorno por déficit de atención con hiperactividad = Motivation and occupational performance in children with ADHD

RESUMEN El trastorno por déficit de atención con hiperactividad es el trastorno neurológico más frecuente en la edad infantil. Gran parte de los modelos teóricos se han centrado en el estudio de variables cognitivas y especialmente en las funciones ejecutivas, como la inhibición, memoria de trabajo, atención sostenida.Sin embargo, las nuevas propuestas reconocen el interés que tiene el estudiar las variables emocionales y la motivación. Hasta ahora no hay un modelo que explique exactamente qué tipo de motivación, que elementos o como influye la motivación en el rendimiento de estos ni os en la vida diaria.La motivación es uno de los elementos nucleares de todo tratamiento y concretamente de la terapia ocupacional. No hay estudios desde terapia ocupacional que traten la relación entre la motivación y el rendimiento ocupacional en el TDAH.Los estudios encontrados fundamentalmente se centran en la relación entre los refuerzos, el feedback, autoconcepto y rendimiento. Son necesarios más estudios que utilicen los mismos criterios para el diagnóstico y seleccionar la muestra para poder hacer comparaciones y estudiar la evidencia del papel de la motivación en el TDAH. ABSTRACT ADHD is the main neurological disorder in childhood. The three bigger models of ADHD are focusing on cognitive performance and specially about executive functions, such as inhibition, working memory, sustained attention.However, the new proposals recognising the interest of study emotional reactions and motivation to explain ADHD. Nowadays there are notany model to explain what kind of motivation,what kind of factors of motivation could be related with this disorder and the performance in daily living.The motivation is an important factor of whatever therapy and specially of Occupational Therapy. We have not found any study about motivation and occupational performance in children with ADHD.The studies of psychology are focused about the relation between rewards, feedback, self-concept and performance. It is necessary more studies with the same clinical criteria with the sample and to know the role of motivationin children with ADHD.
