A Representa o Social é sempre representa o de alguma coisa (objeto) e de alguém (sujeito). Estudos em Representa es Sociais s o conhecimentos construídos pelas rela es do homem com o seu ambiente. As Representa es Sociais do meio ambiente e os valores atuais que contemplam as rela es humanas têm sido foco de pesquisas por parte de órg os governamentais e educadores sensibilizados com a importancia da Educa o Ambiental no Brasil. O objetivo deste trabalho foi realizar uma revis o das diferentes correntes teóricas e metodológicas das Representa es Sociais elaborada por Serge Moscovici. Destaca-se, também, as dimens es metodológicas com ênfase das Representa es Sociais em Educa o Ambiental. The theory of social representations is the production of social knowledge. It focuses on the analysis of the construction and transformation of knowledge and tries to elucidate how social action and thought is tied together in social dynamics. The social representation is always representation of something (object) and one (subject). Studies in Social Representations knowledge are constructed by man's relationship with its environment. The Social Representations of the environment and the current values that include human relations has been the focus of research by government agencies and educators aware of the importance of environmental education in Brazil. The aim of this study was a review of different theoretical approaches and methodological Social Representation prepared by Serge Moscovici. We also focus on the methodological dimensions of social representations with emphasis in Environmental Education.
