Referentes para el arte nuevo: la Gaceta del Sur de Rosario

[es] La Gaceta del Sur, periódico de crítica, arte y letras editado en Rosario durante 1928, constituyó un espacio alternativo de circulación para la producción de aquellos autores modernos rosarinos que no tenían cabida en los medios ni en las instituciones culturales tradicionales. Ya fuera a través de las notas sobre arte, de la reproducción de obras o de la ilustración de textos, sus páginas otorgaron visibilidad a un conjunto de artistas interesados por lo nuevo, que residían y producían en ciudades tan distantes como Rosario, Buenos Aires y París. En este sentido, no sólo les permitió mostrar las últimas búsquedas estéticas de pintores y escultores locales, sino también difundir diversas formas del modernismo metropolitano que sirvieron de referentes para los programas de renovación generados desde esta pujante ciudad del interior del país. Estas imágenes, ligadas a las reverberaciones de las vanguardias históricas y los movimientos restaurativos del período de entreguerras, funcionaban entonces en la Argentina como vanguardia estética. Nuestro artículo apunta a reconstruir las relaciones que establecieron los creadores locales entre sus propuestas y la de determinados artistas situados en los grandes centros culturales, a partir del estudio de las imágenes que seleccionó La Gaceta del Sur. [en] La Gaceta del Sur, newspaper of critical, art and letters edited in Rosario during 1928, was an alternative space of circulation for the production of those modern local authors that neither had a place in the media nor in the traditional cultural institutions. Through notes about art, reproductions of works or illustrations of texts, its pages gave visibility to a group of artists interested in the new, who lived and worked in cities as distant as Rosario, Buenos Aires or Paris. In that sense, it let them show not only the last aesthetic searches of local painters and sculptors, but also spread diverse ways of the metropolitan modernism that served as references for the renovation programs generated in this thriving city of the interior. These images, related to the reverberations of the historical avant-gardes and the restorative movement of the interwar period, worked in Argentina as an aesthetic avantgarde then. Our article intends to rebuild the relations that local creators established between their proposals and those from certain artists settled in the big cultural centres, through the study of the images selected by La Gaceta del Sur.
