THE CHILDREN PRESENTATION IN THE PRINTED MEDIA IN MOZAMBIQUEKeywords: Children , Media and Journalism. Abstract: This study examines how issues relating to children are presented in the printed media in Mozambique. The analysis was done on the Mozambican daily newspapers, during the months of December 2007, January and February 2008, being the "Diário de Mo ambique" the main body of analysis and "Notícias" serving to strengthen the study and help to understand the trends in coverage on issues concerning children. The study has reflected on the way the newspapers analyzed issues related to children, from several existing studies on the representation of childhood in the media. Starting from the idea that children are competent social actors in formulating interpretations of their worlds and reveal the social realities in which they operate and they have the right to express their views on matters that concern them, we included a focus group discussion with school children of Dom Bosco Primary School in Infulene, with the aim of realizing how they receive and interpret news related to themselves.
