Abstract:

Gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) is a syndrome of clinical effects connected with recurrent underactions of scattering acid stomach juice to esophagus. Apart from classic symtoms such as heartburn, dysfagia, chest pain, throwing up or acid eructation it can proceed in the shape of extraesophageal symptoms. The symptoms are located mainly in oral cavity. They can include both hard dental tissue in the shape of enamel erosion, abrasion and soft tissue. On the mucosa it can evince itself as cheilitis angularis, swollen tongue, cheilitis exfoliativa, cheilitis glandularis and aphthae recurrentes. These modifications can be surrounded by fetor ez ore and peridontopathies. Reflux disease treatment is mostly causative, but it ought to be acompanied by localised management of dental complications.
