Abstract:

Certain intensive challenges have been set before the teachers latelyconcerning literary education. While the status of literary education has dramaticallychanged in recent years, the tradition of literary education in Czech schooling systemremains very firm. Fact-oriented, literary-historical, scientific. A contradictorytradition has been crystallizing for almost a hundred years – an innovative approachthat can be described as interpretative, reader-oriented, experiential. Both approachesdiffer the most with respect to high school education, however, traditional approach,by nature, also influences lower elementary education. While a lower elementaryschool teacher can combine both approaches to get the best results, a high schoolteacher can no longer walk both the road of quantity and quality.
