A quadrilha e o circo: aspectos linguísticos, discursivos e intertextuais em uma análise comparativa de editoriais de jornal

This article presents the results of a comparative analysis of two metropolitan newspaper editorials, published at the same day and concerning to the same subject: the dossier about the governmental expenses of former Brazilian President Cardoso. Its aim was to analyze the editorials under linguistic and discursive points of view, and to identify intertextual references. The discursive and linguistic analysis was based on the conception of discursive genre by Bakhtin (1992) rescued by Charaudeau (2006) and applied to the genre newspaper editorial, considering the conditions in which it is produced and its instance of enunciation. The analysis was also based on the ideas of Melo (1985), Fuser (2002) and Cheida (2002) to comment the neutrality searched by the editorialist when expressing the newspaper opinion. Intertextual references were identified and classified according to Maia (2006) and Walty and Cury (2005). Proverbs analysis was based on the papers of Rodrigues (2009), Vellasco (2009) and Sande (2009). The results showed linguistic similarities, intertextual references to add a literary aspect or credibility to the texts, critics to the ruling government and search for neutrality in both editorials.
