A PRáTICA DA REESCRITA NA PRODU O TEXTUAL UNIVERSITáRIAKeywords: textual Linguistics , academic writing , rewriting , textuality criteria Abstract: Our aim here is to show how efficient the practice of rewriting can be in the text production in university context. This practice is helped by conscious revision of textuality criteria and textual genres and types. In our research, the genre was the argumentative dissertation. We have highlighted the main mistakes committed in writing from real texts collected among students of Universidade de Brasília, and we show how the chance of rewriting these texts could lead to abandon these mistakes. We try to emphasize how it is important for the students to be aware of the fact that the act of writing implies three moments: reflection, production, and revision. That awareness helps them to upgrade their academic writing since that practice is very important to all knowledge areas.
