Abstract:

This study arose from the interrogation of students of literature, about the real need to study and teach literature. Given the seriousness of inquiry, it fell to us to explore whether there was a greater quantity passing or not such doubt. We applied a questionnaire with 40 students in that course of ten municipalities in the state. After completion of the step, the analysis of the collected material confirmed the group’s initial inquiry and released in the search for the causes of the problem. Making it the bibliographic data: Zilberman, Kleiman, Cosson and Leahy-Dios, raised the historical conditions surrounding the arrival of Literature in school until the present day and found several factors that generate the students’ concerns. We conclude that all these factors helped to cast doubt on the importance of this study. As a proposal to change this view, brought the concept of literacy literary Rildo Cosson and Gra a Paulino establishing news practices in teaching of literature.
