Abstract:

In terrorist attacks or other extraordinary health situations, there may be numerous wounded or sick patients needing critical care. Special precautions are very important in these types of situations. Since 1970, many types of draft plans were prepared for extraordinary conditions in hospitals Worldwide. In our country, only a few paper plans were made using the literature as an outline. There are many significant differences between countries in terms of health policies and organizations. For this reason, hospital disaster plans and intensive care organizations in extraordinary conditions must be particular to the hospital facts and country dynamics. There is no common consensus about the position and organization of intensive care unitsa in the literature. Risk analysis, education, organization, health care before intensive care unit and integration are basic steps during the planning and preparing of intensive care for extraordinary conditions. The second step should be examining the plan with both exercises and real events. Documentation of the results are very important as they will be used in the re-organization process. In this way it can be possible to reach an ideal organizational plan.
