This article aims to discuss the cinematographic transposition of José Saramago′s literarywork Blindness, directed by Fernando Meirelles. The purpose is to show the characteristics of each one ofthe artistic endeavors. Therefore I will explore in which way literature and film complement one anotherin the construction of new meanings, as well as the language differences presented in the mentionedsigns.
