Strategic elements for an evaluation of extreme events risks

Extreme events, especially those generated by climate change, have been scientificallyapproached for a better understanding of their causes as well as for finding efficient ways in whichpotential damages be diminished if not completely avoided. We consider that the best starting point fordiminishing the damages caused by extreme events is an analysis of the extreme events risk throughscience. In our paper we shall consider the main issues raised by the United Nation InternationalStrategy for Disaster Reduction report and make a constructive analysis in order to extract the mainstrategic elements for an evaluation of extreme events risks.
